STUDIO PREPARATION GUIDE
Let's get you ready...
I've put together a few simple guides to help you feel prepared,
know what to bring and make the most of your session.
I'll guide you every step of the way - this is simply here to help you arrive feeling ready.
WHAT TO WEAR
In this video, I talk through ideas on what to wear for your portraits
and how to choose outfits that feel like you.
You can also look through past sessions to get a feel for the different
outfits and styles that work well in the studio.
Think simplicity - keeping clothing simple and minimal means more focus on you.
If you’re going for a more natural look, such as nude or semi-nude portraits,
I have a range of draping fabrics, sheer fabrics and a few other wardrobe pieces
we can use during your session.
10 TIPS
TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SESSION
These are the little things you can do to help you feel your best for your session.
01 - DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Drink plenty of water in the week leading up to your session to keep your skin hydrated.
02 - GIVE YOUR NAILS SOME LOVE
Nice, clean nails are all you need. Treat yourself to a manicure or do them yourself.
03 - IRON YOUR OUTFITS
Iron anything that needs it. Crinkles and wrinkles will show up in your portraits.
04 - BRING THE RIGHT UNDERWEAR
If you are bringing a wardrobe, bring the right underwear for each outfit.
Think skin-coloured, strapless bras, slips and anything else you might need for your chosen outfits.
05 - EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN
Exfoliate the night before for smooth, fresh skin.
06 - GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP
A good night's sleep of 7-9 hours will help you feel your best and ready for your session.
07 - GET YOUR HAIR READY
Wash and dry your hair on the day of your session and style it in a way you love.
If you've arranged to have your hair and makeup done by a hair & makeup artist,
arrive with clean, dry hair ready for your appointment with her.
08 - CLEANSE & MOISTURISE
Cleanse and moisturise your face.
Perfect if you're going au naturel, or a good base if you've arranged to work with a makeup artist.
09 - EAT YOUR FAVOURITE BREAKFAST
Start your day well with a breakfast you enjoy.
It will not only set you up for the day, but give you the energy you need for your session.
10 - BOOK A DATE WITH SOMEONE SPECIAL
Partner, friend or family - make a little plan for after your session.
This day is about celebrating you, after all.
HAIR & MAKE-UP
I truly believe you are photo-worthy just as you are.
Do your hair and makeup in whatever way you feel most comfortable being photographed.
If you'd rather keep it completely natural, I love that.
If you love getting your hair and makeup done, then that too is amazing.
There is no need for a makeover or a complete transformation before your session.
Take the time to prepare in whatever way makes you feel good and comfortable being photographed.
I'd love to document you as naturally as you're comfortable being photographed.
HAIR & MAKEUP ARTISTS I RECOMMEND
If you would like to have your hair and makeup professionally done,
here are a few artists I have worked with & recommend and trust.
PLEASE NOTE:
Hair and makeup aren't included in your portrait session.
If you'd like to book a hair and makeup artist, please arrange this
directly with them and allow enough time before your session.
